ETL Specialist

Function Description
The successful candidate will be part of our ETL “Centre of Excellence” and will work on Business Intelligence related projects or Data Warehouse projects, mainly at our customer’s premises.

This position is responsible for the administration of data flows, data sources and a data warehouse environment. The ETL specialist plays an important role in the implementation of these data flows by means of ETL tools and ETL techniques to ensure that the required data is relevant, on time and available.

The tasks include:

• Technical analysis of source systems and (general) architecture
• Implementation and set up of the ETL environment
• Implementation of ETL processes with focus on performance, data quality and data integrity
• Modelling of data based on Data Warehouse principles
• Technical insight an support during analysis of report enhancements

Profile
The ideal candidate should have a university or bachelor's degree in computer sciences or economics or equivalent by experience. A proven experience of at least 1 year in a BI role on a Data warehouse project is also required.

Preferably the person has both business experience and IT experience. A good understanding of the public sector is a plus.

Required skills:
The person we’re looking for excels in most of the following areas:

• Profound knowledge of ETL tools like IBM Datastage (preferably), Informatica Powercenter,
• IBM Cognos Data Manager, Oracle OWB or others
• Excellent technical knowledge of Data Warehouse principles
• (staging area, data marts…)
• Good knowledge of modelling principles (star schemas, snowflakes,…)
• Relevant experience in databases (Oracle, SQL server, DB2, …)
• Experience in the implementation of a technical layer and a Business layer is a plus
• Analytical skills to translate the Customer’s needs into technical requirements is a plus
• Strong communication skills an customer oriented (internal & external)
• Both a team player and a person who can work independently
• Excellent written and verbal knowledge of Dutch, English and French
