BI Specialist

Function Description

The successful candidate will be part of our Business Intelligence “Centre of Excellence” and will work on Business Intelligence related projects, mainly at our customer’s premises.

This position is responsible for the customer’s reporting environment, with a special attention for the user-friendliness and integration possibilities on one hand, and for report enhancements and support on the other hand.

The BI specialist plays an important role in the analysis and design phase of a project. Furthermore, this person needs to analyse and interpret the ETL processes in order to gain a clear view of the processes and dataflow behind the data. The BI specialist is also the contact person for the customer to assist him in defining their needs and to translate the needs in reports that are part of the reporting environment.

The tasks include:

• Analysis studies, from both a functional and technical point of view
• Ability to have a clear insight and view regarding the customer’s information (reports) and it’s availability (reporting environment)
• Report development & enhancements
• Training skills to train the customer staff (key-users and other users) in the usage of the BI environment

Profile
The ideal candidate should have a university or bachelor's degree in computer sciences or economics or equivalent by experience. A proven experience of at least 1 year in a BI role on a Data warehouse project is also required.

Preferably the person has both business experience and IT experience. A good understanding of the public sector is a plus.

Required skills
The person we’re looking for excels in most of the following areas:

• Profound knowledge of a BI tool like Cognos (preferably), Business Objects, Oracle BI Suite or others
• Functional and/or technical knowledge of Data Warehouse principles
• Understanding of Corporate Performance Management principles is a plus
• Analytical skills to translate the needs of the customer into functional requirements
• Experience in report development based on gathered information or on documented functional requirements and customisations
• Ability to interpret modelling schemas, ETL processes and database related languages such as SQL and PL/SQL
• Strong communication skills an customer oriented (internal & external)
• Result oriented
• Both a team player and a person who can work independently
• Excellent written and verbal knowledge of Dutch, English and French
